Postcards from Italy: There is so much to soak up in Italy… Color, history, food, culture, texture, charm… all the olive oil, and of course, the sun. My little artist heart could hardly handle all the inspiration pouring out of every ancient corner and street side cafe. Each day I took hundreds of photos, and every night I tiredly tried to give words to our adventures in my journal entries. Some days I woke up early to sketch the view from our room, trying as best I could to somehow transport that Italian bliss back home. This collection is intended to reflect that feeling of ethereal European travel inspiration.

Medium: Acrylic, gouache, graphite and wax pastel on premium, cotton watercolor paper.

Details: Each piece has been sprayed with a fixative. This piece is 8x10” with deckled edges, as if sketched for a postcard or journal onsite to share with a love one back home.

Mat: This piece has been professionally matted to float within an 11x14” soft white mat, showcasing the deckled edges. The perfect size for setting in a standard size frame. Title and artist signature will be written in pencil on the mat below the artwork.

Framing suggestion: Nearly all of the paintings have a touch of bronze yellow/siena gold paint color in them, making an antique gold frame my personal choice for framing. I also think it would complement the European subject matter well. Black, stained wood, or a color that complements the piece are all classic choices as well depending on your home’s aesthetic!
