megan & mike gilger, the couple behind the fresh exchange, have set a beautiful example for seasonal living in the great lakes.

I have been following The Fresh Exchange for several years now, often referring to their words and visuals as I pursue my own desire to embrace the four seasons and support this region that we love so much.

This past fall, Megan shared with me her vision for her new business endeavor - Shop Fresh Exchange - a carefully curated collection of goods produced ethically and locally that celebrate our land and how we live.

She asked me to join her spring launch and I of course said yes, beyond honored to know she admired my work and have my pieces showcased next to so many other talented makers and friends of mine.

We decided to create an original collection inspired by the many al fresco gatherings she has hosted over the years. I am so lucky to have her gorgeous photos as inspiration. I know so many of us have fond memories of gathering and preparing food with loved ones, yet rarely are we able to capture those moments as beautifully as Megan and Mike do. Now with this collection, you all will have an opportunity to take a little slice home with you that hopefully sparks nostalgia from your own experiences.

Each scene captures a candid interaction in motion. I love the familiar movements of opening a bottle of rosé, reaching for a glass or setting the table.

When naming these pieces, I wanted them to sound like a conversation you’d have with your friends and family while planning a meal or passing a dish. Like the scenes they depict, they are welcoming and casual.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

All paintings are framed in a 2.5” deep neutral maple wood floater frame. They will be signed and ready to hang. I love how the clean cut edges & minimalist frames set some boundaries for my loose brush strokes and playful marks.

You’ll find a common color palette woven throughout this series, nearly all of them match well together - and because many are inspired by the same evening, they tell a beautiful story when arranged together. Our hope is that these stories become apart of your own.
